The Discussion section is used to compare the results of the current study with those of previous studies on similar topics, and to highlight and explain differences and similarities.

La partie Discussion sert à comparer les résultats de l’étude en cours à ceux d’études antérieures portant sur le même sujet. Elle doit également chercher à mettre en valeur et expliquer ces similitudes et ces différences.

- Expressing similarity

Ex. However, like Finlay and Coles (1995), we found that psoriasis lesions located on visible parts of the body correlated significantly with aspects of quality of life, in particular, mental health.

- Expressing difference

Ex. In this study of quality of life in patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis, we found more bodily pain and lower social functioning than those reported in a large Dutch reference population.

- Expressing contrast

Ex. Our study contrasts sharply with earlier investigations in which patients with a wider range of psoriasis severity were examined.
