N°5 : Writing the introduction

Article Article

When abbreviations and acronyms appear for the first time, often in the introduction, they have to be defined. In other words, the expanded form has to be mentioned before the abbreviation in brackets. Once the abbreviation/acronym has been defined, the same abbreviated form has to be used throughout the article.
Don’t forget that the same abbreviation/acronym may correspond to different terms. In addition, the reader may not always be familiar with the field of study. When the article contains many abbreviations/acronyms, the journal may require the author to provide a list of abbreviations/acronyms together with their expanded forms to help readers.
